Wesley Smith Obituary

Wesley Smith 69, of Michigan City, Indiana departed this life on December 6, 2020 at home. Funeral services are pending.

Wesley Smith Jr. was the oldest of 7 children. Wesley was born March 28, 1951 to Della Mae Butler and Wesley Delano Smith, in Andrews, Texas. Wesley was raised by his grandmother Louvenia Johnson, in Rotan Texas.

A celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Coleman & Hicks Chapel at 11am. Burial will take place immediately after service at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.

During his earlier years, Wesley moved to Chicago Illinois; and later he would call his final home Michigan City, Indiana. Wesley was a Hair Stylist, and Photographer in his earlier years. Wesley catered bbq and was known for his famous bbq and his secret sauce that was featured in the Herald LaPorte County News Paper, “Taste of MC” (08. 01.2018) and as a vender in Michigan City. Wesley was also known for his love of the western cowboys and named his business “Texas Most Wanted BBQ”.

Wesley will be remembered by his family as “Fella”, and by the community as the nice guy that would sit on his front porch, greet everyone with a smile, and wave as they would pass by.

Wesley is survived by his loving Children; three daughters, Sheila Smith-Ware, Sarasota, Fl; Lesley Smith, Bradenton, FL; Sherice Moore, Holland, MI; and four sons, Corey Smith, Bradenton, Fl; Cedric Moore, Green Bay WI; Wesley Moore, Holland, MI; Chance Smith, Michigan City, IN; Siblings, Louvenia Thompkins Brandon, Fl; Della Stephens Bradenton, Fl; Elizabeth Butler; Sarasota, Fl; Mary Butler; Sarasota, Fl .Brothers; Jerry Sheppard (Deceased), Arthur Butler, Sarasota FL; thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren,and Four cousins whom grew up with Wesley like sisters Mary Tucker, Chicago IL;  Fayola Collins, Miami, FL; Hazel Barnes, Bradenton, FL; and Linda Golston, Moultrie, GA; 

He was preceded in death by his Mother; Della Mae Butler, Father, Wesley Delano Smith, Uncle like a brother James Johnson, Grandmother, Louvenia Johnson, Brother, Jerry Sheppard, and Grandson, Adrian Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
