Wanda Lenoir Obituary

Wanda Lenoir made her heavenly transition on April 4, 2019.

Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 123 Helen Street with Dr. Stanley Mason to officiate. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be 11am Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church until the time of service.

Wanda Marie Pearson-Lenoir was born on August 10, 1962 in Charleston, Missouri to Ernest and Almetta Pearson Sr.  Wanda married Willis Lenoir on August 10, 1996. 

Wanda came to know Christ at an early age.  She was baptized at Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport, Iowa under the late Reverend Roosevelt Boyce.  She was an active member of Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Michigan City, Indiana.  Wanda served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the choir.  She loved helping people, singing, spending time with her grandchildren/family, gardening, traveling, and doing crafts.  Wanda graduated from Central High School, Davenport, Iowa in 1981; she later furthered her education at Purdue University North Central Westville, Indiana in 2008 and Common Wealth Business College in Michigan City, Indiana where she obtained her degree.  She worked as a Medical Assistant at Planned Parent Hood/Women’s Health in 1997 and a teacher at Westview Elementary, Michigan City, Indiana (Aug 2009-June 2011).   

Wanda leaves to cherish her husband, Willis Lenoir; three sons: Marquces (Christie) Pearson, Leonard (Turqies) Scott and Darrian Aikens-Lenoir; one daughter, Shaquita Lenoir; mother Almetta Pearson; three brothers:  Ernest Pearson of Davenport, Iowa; Norman (Cynthia) Pearson of Springfield, Illinois and Scott Pearson of Davenport, Iowa; three sisters: Doris (Dennis) Steverson special sister of Davenport, Iowa, Carla Townzel of Greenville, South Carolina and Vickie (Patrick) Wickersham Sr. of Silvis, IL; 13 grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.  Special friends: Bobbie Calhoun, Laura Braxton, Stephanie Lee, Christine (Julius) Kent, and Jennifer Donaldson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Ray Pearson; father, Ernest Pearson Sr., brother, Eddie Patterson; grandparents, Hattie and Norman Moore, Woodrow and Lillie Mae Pearson; two nephews, DeErnest Hawkins and Tyrae Pearson.
