HER STORY..,.
Virginia Stalling was born to Samuel Stalling Sr. and Lucy Young and was brought into the world on May 26, 1940, in Starkville, Mississippi.
In 1940, right after she was born, her family moved to Cotton Plant, Arkansas where she grew up and worked as a sharecropper for years before moving further north to Michigan City, Indiana in 1965. While in Michigan she worked as a housekeeper at Tinker Dam office suites and later as a school-aide at Michigan City Public Schools before becoming a full-time housewife and mother.
Virginia was a woman of God and loved to sing in church and often praised God around the house. She loved her family and in her later years would ask about her children and grandchildren daily. She was a strong woman both physically and mentally. She always kept herself busy around the house even when there was seemingly nothing to do. She loved to take long walks around the neighborhood and loved to cook on the holidays. She also loved to watch the news and talk about politics. She was very kind and would give her last dime to help anyone she cared for.
