Tommie Young Sr. made his transition to his heavenly home on October 15, 2019 at his home.

A celebration of life will be 1:00pm, Friday, October 25, 2019 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Allen Briggs to officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, Friday, October 25, 2019 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. The burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.

Tommie Young Sr. was born on December 27, 1917 in Forest City, Arkansas to the late Rev. Doc Dorsey and Ellen Smith-Young.

In 1953, Tommie married Georgia M. Nesby in Blytheville, Arkansas and they later moved to Michigan City, Indiana .

Brother Young was self-employed for many years as a Contractor. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Church until he became ill. Brother Young was the eldest member of his church. He was on the board of trustee and he played the piano. He enjoyed boxing in his youth, music and he song in several groups, Gospel Singer, Friendly Six, Golden Trumpet, Traveling Souls, Gospel Tones and the Four Kings of Harmony.

 Brother Young leaves to cherish his fond memories, seven children, Delois Allen of Gary, Indiana, Patricia Young, Tommie Young Jr., Larry (Rita) Young Sr., Terry Young, Rickey Young all of Michigan City, Indiana and Karl Briggs of Sacramento, California; special niece, Gloria D. Fry of Michigan City, Indiana; special nephews, Darwin Van and James Van both of Michigan City, Indiana; five special men who looked up to Mr. Young like he was their own father, Minister Wesley Scully, Willie Scully, Harold Wilkins, Brient Thomas, and Minister Calvin Kiner Sr. all of Michigan City, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and his Macedonia Church family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia M. Young; twin sons; daughter, Maxine Ross; siblings, Otto E. Young, Rosie Young-Johnson, Lula Young Van, Nettie Young-Augusta, North Fleet French, Ida Clark-McCurry, and Edward Smith.
