Her Life Story
Sylvia “Renee” White was born on August 26, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Robert White Sr. and Loma Jean White. She was their second child and entered the world full of life, joy, and determination.
Sylvia “Renee” White was united in marriage to the late Jimmy Lee Williamson in 1979. Their union, which lasted until 1984, was a meaningful chapter in her life filled with love, growth, and shared memories. During their marriage, Sylvia welcomed her first daughter, Shamekia, a blessing who brought immense joy and purpose to her life.A few years later, Sylvia’s heart was once again filled with joy when she welcomed her second daughter, Tiffany. Her birth marked a new season in Sylvia’s life—one that deepened her purpose and strengthened her role as a devoted mother. Sylvia poured every bit of her love, wisdom, and strength into raising her girls. She was proud of the young women they became and the bond they all shared. To her, Shamekia and Tiffany weren’t just her daughters—they were her life’s greatest accomplishments, her motivation, and her reason for every smile. Sylvia was raised on the West Side of Chicago, where she attended Robert Emmet Grammar School and later graduated from Austin High School. During her younger years, Sylvia joined the Gayhawks Motorcycle Club. Through her membership, she was able to travel, build lasting friendships, and enjoy life surrounded by people who shared her adventurous spirit. In the 1990s, Sylvia relocated to Michigan City, Indiana, where she spent the remainder of her years building lasting friendships and strengthening relationships with her family. She quickly became known for her warm personality, loving nature, and willingness to help anyone in need.
A Life of Service and Love, Sylvia dedicated her life to helping others. She was a proud member of Southwind Immanuel Church, where she found purpose in serving her community. She loved to feed people, offer encouragement, and lend a hand wherever she was needed. Her radiant smile and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A woman of compassion and strength, Sylvia was also a foster parent for over 15 years, opening her heart and home to many children. She nurtured, loved, and guided them as her own, creating a legacy of care that will continue to live on in those whose lives she touched.
Her Character and Spirit, Sylvia was one of the kindest and most selfless people you could ever meet. She had a special gift for making others feel loved, seen, and valued. Her generosity and faith shined brightly through her actions, and she truly lived by the principle of giving more than she received.
From an early age, Renee understood the meaning of true friendship. At just eight years old, she met her dear friend Melody Burnett on Monroe Street, where their childhood bond quickly grew into a lifelong sisterhood.
Sylvia also shared an unbreakable bond with her best friend and sister at heart, Doreen “Biscuit” Mosby. Their friendship began in their younger years when they both joined the Gayhawks Motorcycle Club. Riding together, traveling, and sharing in the club’s adventures, they quickly discovered a shared sense of humor, loyalty, and love for life. Through countless rides, trips, and late-night conversations, their friendship grew into a sisterhood that lasted a lifetime. Doreen was always by Sylvia’s side, and their bond brought joy, laughter, and unwavering support to each other’s lives. Sylvia also shared a deep and cherished friendship with Barbara James, a sister in spirit. They had known each other for many years, and their connection grew even stronger when they built their homes next to each other. Their friendship was built on trust, loyalty, and countless shared memories, creating a lifelong bond that Sylvia treasured deeply.
Renee shared a profound and enduring bond with her brothers-in-law, Robert Williams and Michael Jones. She often called on Robert for guidance and support, and even with the passing of his wife, her sister, their relationship as family never wavered—in fact, it grew even stronger. With Michael, she shared a connection filled with laughter, trust, and mutual respect. The love and closeness she experienced with them were a source of strength and comfort, leaving memories that will forever be cherished.
Sylvia also shared a deep and loving relationship with her fiancé, Eddie Lee Nixon, who tragically passed away the same day. Their love was one of partnership, laughter, and devotion—two souls who brought out the best in one another.
