Shirley A. Wright, 75, gained her wings to fly away and be at rest on May 16, 2024 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley Ann Wright, went home to the Lord at age 75. Shirley was born on December 12, 1948, in Jackson, Mississippi to the union of the late Robert Evans and Rosalee Spivey.
She left Jackson, Mississippi at the age of two and grew up in Chicago, Illinois attending Parker High School. Shortly after finishing school, Shirley moved to Gary, Indiana where she married James Tinzley, Sr., and had four children. She attended Indiana University Northwest nursing program. Later in life she moved to South Bend, Indiana attending Emanuel Church of Deliverance, where she met her husband, Michael Wright, under the guidance of Pastor Shirley and Don Gaston. She was a certified nursing assistant and worked for Kroger retiring after twelve years. Shirley was dedicated to volunteering and serving the community. Shirley loved cooking, singing and enjoying her family. Her favorite past times were gardening, watching General Hospital, All My Children and the Price Right. In addition, Shirley was a member of Mt Zion (now known as Zion Hill) Baptist Church in Michigan City, IN.
Preceding her in death, her mother: Rosalee Spivey, her father: Robert Evans, her siblings: Wesley Evans, Betty Jean Carter, Delores Branson, her grandson: David Anthony Baker, her great grandson: Jamarion Evans and her nephew: Sidney Carter.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband: Michael Wright, her 4 children: Robert Evans, James Tinzley Jr., Attallah Camille Tinzley and Stacy Ann Tinzley, 12 grandchildren: 33 great- grandchildren: a great- great granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, Church family, and friends.
Shirley was known for her beautiful smile, her intelligence and kind spirit. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Celebration of life will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 11am, at Zion Hill Baptist Church 123 Helen St. with Bishop John Brown will do the Eulogy. Interment will be private.
