Sarah Ann Redden

Her Story...

Sarah Ann was born on April 30, 1958, in Michigan City, Indiana to the Union of the late Mattie and Isaiah Whitfield. She was the fifth child out of nine children born to this union. Sarah was educated and spent her whole life in Michigan City. After graduating high school she married her high school sweetheart, Alexander Redden, and to this union three children were born: Christopher, Charles, and Chanel. 

Sarah worked at the Michigan City Library for 30 years where she retired from. She was the meekest of her sisters, soft spoken, and the favorite Aunt of all. She would bake cookies and read books as punishment. She enjoyed spending time with her family at family cookouts, and times with her sisters and reading. 

Sarah Ann Redden 67, of Michigan City, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on July 2, 2025 at home. She was preceded in death by both of her Parents: Mattie and Isaiah Whitfield, Brothers: John Eddie, Charles H Whitfield, Sisters: Reaney Whitfield (Horton) Brenda Lee Whitfield. 

She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories her Husband: Alexander Redden, One Son: Christopher (Tanya) Redden, One Daughter: Chanel Redden, all of Michigan City, IN; Brothers; Isaiah III and James E. Whitfield both of California; Sisters; Betty (Harry) Mitchell, of Benton Harbor, MI; Marilyn Whitfield of Michigan City, IN; Elizabeth Grey of Dallas, TX; Angela Carter of Michigan City, IN; Grandchildren; Christopher II, Amyr, Alexis, Alyse, Alexander, Isaiah, Br'nyia, Caelyn, Amyia, Alina, Jazzlyn, and Chosen, Great-grandchildren; Dezmond, Ahlani and a host of In-Laws, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends. Sarah had a special place in her heart for her Niece Ruth Pryor. She loved her Husband, Children, Grandchildren, and Great grandchildren. 

Sarah's love, laughter, presence, & Smile will be missed by all that knew her.

A Celebration of life will be Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 11-1pm at Coleman & Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360. Interment will be private.
