Roger Johnson Obituary

LIFE REFLECTIONS Of Roger Renaldo (Mark) Johnson

Roger was born on March 24, 1965 and was raised in a loving home with his parents, Jossie and James Randolph Williams and 9 older siblings in Chicago, Illinois.  Roger was the youngest of 10 children.

Roger was baptized at an early age at Christian Youth MB. Church under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Cherry.  As a member of Christian Youth, Mark sang in the youth choir and participated in Sunday School.  When the family moved to Woodland Park, Michigan, Mark was a member of Community Church in Woodland Park, where he sang in the choir also.

Roger attended Wacker Elementary School, Baldwin Elementary School and Yates Middle School (Baldwin, Michigan).  The family moved back to Chicago and Mark attended Hirsch High School.

Roger worked as a Chef in various restaurants in Michigan. On occasions he would cook a scrumptious meal for his siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Roger was a fun loving, but very sensitive person.  He kept his family laughing at his antics.  There was never a dull moment with him around, because you didn’t know if you were going to get a joke or a song.  At any given moment, he could change the words to a song and make it his own.  Although he didn’t have any children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews, and he showered them with love whenever he saw them.

Roger departed this life on Monday, September 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his Parents: James and Jossie Williams, Brothers: Mitchell, Judson, and Robert.

He leaves to mourn his passing, Brothers: Roosevelt (Diane) Neal of Marietta, Georgia; and Steven Randolph of Baldwin, Michigan; Sisters: Pamela (Richard) Waters of South Holland, Illinois; Louise Rouse, Manuella (Curtis) Austin all of Chicago, Illinois; and Mary Wallace, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends who loved him dearly. He also leaves Aaron Burrell, whom he considered a Son, and very Special Friends: Tamara R. Strahan and Rev. Fred Moore.
