Recardo Johnson Obituary

Recardo Johnson 42, of Chicago, Illinois departed this life on October 21, 2023,

Celebrating the Life of a Wonderful Man, Father and Brother!!

Recardo was born on February 14,1981 to Mrs. Deborah Douglas-Goosby and Recardo Douglas. He was an only child and the oldest of his father’s children in which he had a younger brother named Antonio.

Recardo known as Rico/D.C was a great hearted and loving man. He had a heart of Gold. Like most people, he got his ways but most of all, he was a loving, helpful and caring person. Recardo was baptized and gave his life to the Lord.

Ricardo grew up in Chicago, but lived in many places such as Evanston, Oklahoma and Washington D.C. where he got his nickname from DC. Later in life he would travel to North Carolina to visit relatives. He graduated high school from CCA Academy and then went to college at Oklahoma State University and Langston University for journalism.  He was a great writer and always said he was going to write a book one day. He was a very intelligent, kind, and idealistic man. But due to violence of Chicago streets, he was robbed short of his life, and didn’t get to achieve some of his accomplishments. He did start his own business L(square)2-Long life outside the box! He sold different color wristbands & keychains. Each color represented different causes that he supported such as breast, colon, and prostate cancer. Recardo worked in the funeral industry for several years and served several roles, mostly as a hustler. DC could sell anything. He had the gift of gab and was very lovable. Ricardo would give you the clothes off his back, or shoes on his feet. He was such a wonderful individual. Rico was loved by so many people. He showed love to everyone that was around him. Recardo was a harmless man and wouldn't hurt a fly.. So, to be sitting here writing these remarks of his life is very hurtful, painful, and heartbreaking. We might cry now and later but most importantly; we won’t forget the amazing person he was. The great bright smile he kept on his face, that matched his great spirit. Recardo was a spontaneous man and was raised with love.

Mr. Recardo R. Johnson gained his wings on October 21, 2023 in Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents: Deborah Goosby (mother), Recardo Douglas(father), Grandmother(deceased): John Johnson Jr.  (uncle), Kenneth Johnson (uncle), Lillian Muñoz-Romero and her (Husband: Gilberto, deceased).
