RaShon Robinson Obituary

RaShon “Rook” Robinson was born October 11, 1973 in Racine, Wisconsin to Erma “PeeWee” Robinson and Jerry “Chris/Gator” Anderson. He departed from this life on Monday April 6, 2020 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital in Monroe, Michigan at the age of 46.

RaShon was born in Racine, Wisconsin, but was raised in Michigan City, Indiana by his uncle Earl (Denise) Robinson. RaShon was a scholar and succeeded at everything he put his mind to. He attended and graduated from Elston Sr. High School and continued his education at Indiana University. RaShon had a great love for sports, especially college football and basketball. University of Michigan was one of his favorite college teams. He acquired a passion for grilling while living in Nashville, Tennessee and he knew that he was one of the best at it. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and family. Rook had a unique, personal relationship with every member of his family, no matter their age. RaShon was a great father and role model for his daughters. He cherished his daughters tremendously; they were the center of his life.

RaShon was a hard worker and had a few jobs throughout his lifetime. As a teenager, he worked at Carlson’s Drive-In every summer. When he became a young adult he tried his hand in production, working at PSW, Industries for a few years. But it wasn’t until he moved to Detroit that he found his passion. He made a career in the security industry. RaShon was a security supervisor at both MotorCity Casino and Greektown Casino. He also was an invaluable security officer for Rock Security. Rook loved telling stories about the things he experienced while at work. He made many friends; he was loved dearly and well respected by his co-workers.

RaShon leaves to cherish his memory four beautiful daughters: Lindsey Diggs, Alyssa Robinson, Autumn Robinson all of Southfield, MI, and Precious Spicer of Conroe, TX. Three charming grandsons: Demario Clemons Jr., Dominic McKinney and Dawson McKinney all of Southfield, MI. His father, Jerry (Norma) Anderson of Michigan City, IN., Siblings: Jerry Anderson Jr, of Milwaukee, WI, Kellen (Randy) Anderson of Homewood, IL, Kathryn (Brett) Kelly of LaPorte, IN, Shavounda (Eric) White of Munster, IN, Jermaine Anderson, Krista Anderson, Dominique Anderson, Shavonne Anderson, and Liza (Danny) Smith all of Michigan City, IN and two step-sisters: Emonne Nixon of Indianapolis, IN, and Michelle ( LP) Steward of Michigan City, IN. He also leaves a special aunt/mother figure, Thelma “Redd” Robinson, a special “little sister”, Wilma Cotton both of Michigan City, IN, his companion Lisa Cardwell of Southfield, MI, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Erma Robinson, one brother, Marcus Miller, one nephew, Nicholas Anderson, his grandfather, George Howell, and two grandmothers, Alberta Adams, Kathryn Styles and one uncle Ricky Styles.
