Phyllis J. Derby

Phyllis Joan Derby was born on January 22, 1936  to Clyde and Rita Zook in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 

She grew up in Los Angeles, California and graduated from Van Nuys High School. After graduating she later married Willis Derby. She retired from Black and Decker after 10 years as a machine operator. After her husbands passing she moved to Indiana where she resided until her passing. Phyllis enjoyed roller skating in her younger years, Since then she loved crafts, crocheting and arts, her biggest love was spending time her family and her dog Chino.

Phyllis J. Derby 86, of Valparaiso, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2022 in Munster, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Clyde and Rita Zook, her late husband: Willis Derby, her maternal and paternal grandparents, one son: Rocky Green, one grand-daughter: Margaret Green, and a sister: Bethel Zook, along with other relatives that awaited her in Heaven.

She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: her five Children whom she adored: Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Green, Russell (Cynthia) Green Cheryl (John) Burnett Jr., Alonzo Derby, and Dennis Derby, two sisters: Carolyn Estrada and Gerald Zook, 13 grand-children, 17 great-grand-children along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A private Internment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries in Los Angeles, California.

Phyllis's love, laughter, smile, and presence will be sorely missed by all that knew. her.
