Daniel Ray Fleming Sr, age 49, was taken home by the Lord suddenly on June 27, 2023 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Daniel was born on November 10, 1973 in Gary Indiana to Pastor Willie Fleming and wife Jean Fleming. His father had declared that he was a boy and that he would be a preacher long before he was born.
Daniel did not aspire to be a preacher formally, however, when it was time for him to help his dad in the ministry, he was so well groomed for it from seeing the example set before him by his parents, that he did an absolutely beautiful job. He always said that he was “out of the box” because he didn’t want to do things the old way that could possibly turn people away from coming to church. He called it “taking away the excuses”.
Daniel showed people how to be a Christian and still be a cool dude while doing it… He could reach so many people because there were so many facets to his personality. He didn’t have to give up his strong character traits to be a Teacher and a Preacher…he used to say he was still dancing… but just with a different partner!
Because of the life that he had lived in the streets, he knew in real terms what people were facing in that lifestyle, so he knew how to reach out and pull them from it with wisdom, grace and love.
Daniel had special ways about him when it came to preaching, teaching, and helping others…He loved people actually, and had a strong desire to protect the underdog, and to make sure that people were treated fairly… not only did this cause him to be a wonderful shepherd and Pastor, but it also left in his path many whose lives were touched by him and were never the same.
He was a strict and loving father that wanted so much for his children that he almost could not allow them to make their own decisions in this world because they might mess it up!
He showed such a tender, love for his grandchildren and was so proud to see his strong genes carried over in them. He was also so quietly protective over their innocence.
Daniel was a respectful and fully dedicated and involved son. He loved his family more than life itself…
Daniel is survived by his mother Jean Fleming, his wife, Kim Fleming, his children: DanielJr.(Kamilah), Serina (Dana), Joshua, Sydnee (Elijah), D.C.(Deanna) and Dashia
Grandchildren: (Novah, Hayden, Frankie, Ruby, Jaxon and Haysen)
Siblings: Pastor Peter (Vickie) Fleming, Elijah(Qui) Fleming, Sarah (Mark) Shaw, and Sam Fleming.
He also leaves on this earth a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends… and a very dear friend and faithful servant Becky Cable.
This world will never be the same without Daniel in it… but if he were here he would teach and remind us how to rely on the Lord for strength no matter what we are facing. We will do our best to remember everything you taught us Brother…
Daniel will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
