Ozell Corley, Jr. Obituary

Life's Reflections...

Ozell Corley, Jr. was born February 12, 1963 to Barbara Davis and Ozell Corley, Sr. in Michigan City, IN.

He graduated from Elston Sr. High School in 1981. He was a warrior as a youngster, making sure he was heard. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing, getting dressed up and giving advice. Ozell had a green thumb and loved animals. His earliest jobs were working at Sammy’s Tavern (later known as The Rich Man Poor Man) and Corley’s Car Wash. Later, in Chicago, Ozell worked as an assistant manager at Amoco and BP gas stations for over 20 years. He was the most valuable staff member at the gas stations and the owner was always happy to see him, saying, “Ozell’s in the house!"

Ozell received his wings on January 25, 2023 peacefully in his sleep at Elevate Care in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Ozell Corley, Sr., his sister, Kenya Corley, his brother, Cameron Corley, his nephew, Russell Aldridge, his aunt, Velois Mosby, his uncles, Curtis Ray Aldridge and Leon Aldridge, Jr., and his grandparents, Leon Aldridge, Sr. and Willie Bell Aldridge.

Ozell’s fond memories will be cherished by his mother: Barbara Davis of Michigan City, IN; two sisters: Kim Aldridge and Regina Fly of Michigan City, IN; his brother: Odell Corley of Terre Haute, IN; four nieces: Damara Aldridge of Atlanta, GA; Quanshanna Aldridge of Detroit, MI; Ebony (William) Hurt of Michigan City, IN; and Toni (Christopher) Thomas of LaPorte, IN; five nephews: Brentae Aldridge, Laymon (Tiffany) Fly, III, and Reginald Fly all of Michigan City, IN; Marcus D. Aldridge of Seattle, WA; Donald (Ladelphia) Newson of Morrow, GA; four aunts: Cherry Aldridge of Michigan City, IN; Deborah Aldridge (Julie Burgett) of Chicago, IL; Lynda Orange and Rita (Greg) Olds of Atlanta, GA; four uncles: Larry Aldridge and Rodney Aldridge of Conyers, GA; Terrance Aldridge and Dion Aldridge of South Bend, IN.

Ozell was a great uncle and great, great uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. He adored his special cousin, Taikasha Peterson. Special friends were Joseph Braun, Sherry Kiner and David Wilson. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Take your rest now, Ozell, your memory will live in us all.

A Celebration of life will be Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11am with viewing 10am until time of service. Interment will be Monday, February 6, 2023 at Swan lake Memorial Gardens, at 11am.
