Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith, 81, of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024. She was born on February 21st 1943, in Cairo, Illinois, to Etheline Murray and Gus Keywood. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Everly McQuire.

Known for her vibrant and fun-loving personality, Norma brought joy to those around her with her infectious laugh, quick wit, and love for good times. She cherished her relationships with friends and family and had a special fondness for visiting East Chicago, where she had many dear acquaintances. One of her favorite pastimes was taking the train to downtown Chicago for a day of shopping, followed by a pampering nail appointment in East Chicago.

Norma leaves behind a cherished legacy of memories, which will be treasured by her cousins: Shirley Holliday, Jean Wilson, Linda Hobson Williams, Jeffrey Holliday, Sedrick Prude, Donna Hobson Payne, and her dear friends, Margaret and Millard Smith along with a host of other family and friends. While her sparkling laughter and zest for life will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
