Obituary

Madie K. Kelly was born on July 6, 1927 to Roy and Tressie (Ferrell) Kelly in the town of Round Pond, Arkansas in Saint Francis County. She was known to family and friends as Mother Madie.

She accepted Christ in her life at a very young age. Before leaving Arkansas, she was blessed with a son Ernest Riley. She then moved to Chicago where she met L. K Small Sr. and to this union Madie was blessed with another son, LK Small Jr. Later she would meet and marry John Mosley on June 1, 1957. As husband and wife they relocated to Michigan City where they made their permanent home. This union would last 52 years until Johns' death. 

She was employed with Hayes factory as a production worker for several years. She would go on and work for Thermco Instruments where she retired in 1997. 
Madie loved singing. She and her sisters would sing at different churches and cities. With the help of their mother Tressie, they formed a singing group then known as "The Voices of Calvary". Later they would rename the group "The Kelly Sisters". As well as her love for singing and music, she loved to dance. She and her brother Roger won several dance contests together. 

Madie was a very classy lady, always riding in style in her Cadillac's and dressed to the tee. She had a love for travel. When her grand children grew up and moved to various places around the United States, this gave her the perfect opportunities to travel and explore different places. She also had a love for gardening, this love followed her from her home town. Madie especially loved making a home for her children and grand children. She called them the best parts of her. She always welcomed family and friends into her home. Her church family was also a very important part of her life. She was a faithful member of the Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles E. Dowdell and was on the Mother's Board,  Missionary Board, and was an anointed prayer warrior that could move heaven at any time. 

Madie (Kelly) Mosley, was promoted to Glory to be with the Lord on March 30th, 2022 at Franciscan Health Centers. She was preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Tressie Kelly, husband: John Mosley, son: Ernest Riley, 3 sisters: Ester Braxton, Willie Mae Walker, and Mattie Taylor, 7 brothers: Lovie, Lemon, Pastor Roger, Carmel, Bobby, James, and George  Kelly one brother-in-law Bennie Mack, one god-daughter, Nancy Perry.

She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories and legacy, her son, L.K Small Jr., two Sisters: Ann Mack  both of Michigan City, Indiana; and Margret Petrie of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Seven grand children: Lorraine Harmon of Michigan City, Indiana; my one and only grandson: Mario Riley, Marla Riley (Daryl) Wilson all of Alton, Illinois; DeAndre Crawford of Shreveport, Louisiana; Marie Small of San Diego, California; Lynn (Kevin) Fuller of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Melissa (Anthown) Wren of Fort Worth, Texas; two god- daughters: Christine Arndt, and Linda Williams, life-long friend: Mother Pauline Lawhorn all of Michigan City, Indiana; She is also survived by 19 great-grand children and a host of great-great grand children, nieces and nephews, and Church Family.

A Celebration of life of life will take place on Good Friday, April 15, 2022 at Greater Power House 428 N. Woodland Ave. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 at 12 noon with Pastor Edker Hull. Viewing will be at 11am until time of service. Repast to follow at the Church immediately following services. Burial will be Monday, April 18, 2022 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens at 1pm.
