Mother Lee Vertia Robinson

Lee Vertia Robinson known as “Mrs. Bea” was born January 23,1923 in Bay Springs, Mississippi to General Lee and Anna(Omer) Gavin.

In 1943 she moved to Joliet, Illinois where she started her occupation as a chef. She moved to Michigan City, IN in 1952 . On June 12, 1960 in Michigan City she married her best friend Joe L. Robinson and to this union one daughter was born. She became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 1961 she was a faithful servant on the Mothers Board, and cooked dinners for the Layman Men Day. Mrs. Bea enjoyed attending church, planting gardens, cooking Thanksgivings dinners for her family, and being with grandchildren. She didn’t mind speaking her mind. She would say “Tell the truth and stay in Church”.

In 1987 she retired from being a chef at Pottawatomie Country Club.

Mother Lee Vertia Robinson made her heavenly transition on June 15, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Deacon Joe L. Robinson, her parents, General Lee and Anna Omer -Gavin, her brothers, John Edward, Archie Gavin, and Andrew Gavin.

She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories one daughter: Jacquelyn L. Robinson Michigan City, Indiana; three grandchildren: Shaylah J. Barron Mishawaka ,Indiana; Shayne D. Barron Pittsburg Pennsylvania;  Naethan L. Sanders Michigan City, Indiana; one god daughter: Remona Goolsby-Bell and god son: Henry Miller lll, along with a  host of relatives, friends and the entire New Hope Missionary Baptist Church family.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday June 21, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church 730 W 6th St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 at 11am. Viewing will be at 10am until time of service with Pastor Jacarra M. Williams to do Eulogy. Burial will take place immediately following services at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
