Mother Annie Deloris “Mommie” Higgins, 79, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, departed this life on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 9:35 pm at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with her family by her side.
She was born on December 5, 1941 in Humphrey, Arkansas to the late Brack and the late Annie (Hockenhull) Higgins. She was the 8th born of that union. She was a graduate of Parker High School in Chicago, Illinois. Coming from Chicago, Illinois in 1993, she relocated to Michigan City, Indiana. She received Christ at Zion Temple Church of God in Christ, and later became a member of Revival Center Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Dewitt Jackson Sr., where she served as a faithful member and church mother. She enjoyed going to church and was faithful to 6 am prayer. Annie was a faithful servant who loved the Lord and would do anything in her powers to help others. Annie was loved by many, she was full of love and absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and was the queen of garage sales. Mother Annie was a true matriarch whose legacy will live on.
A Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00am at High Praise Outreach Ministries, 301 E. 9th St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Supt. Dewitt Jackson Sr. to give Eulogy. Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service at the Church.
Annie Higgins leaves to cherish her memories, one sister, Geneva Martin of Michigan City, IN; two daughters, Valerie Higgins of Indianapolis, IN, and Londa Renee Higgins of Murfreesboro, TN; five sons, Connell Higgins, Jose (Deatrice) Higgins, Mark Higgins, Jerome Higgins, all of Michigan City, IN and Eric “Pluke” (Lady) Higgins of Oak Ridge, TN. 36 grandchildren, one special granddaughter, 63 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three special daughters, Tracy Woods, Erica Edwards, and Felicia Blakely, one special son, Javaughn Blakely Sr., and one god son, Jalontae Blakely. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church members and friends.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, six sisters, Doris Martin, Gloria Martin, Ruby Jean Gay, Gladyis Walton, Delma Ruth Jennings and Dorothy Smith; two brothers Leon Higgins and Joe Carl Higgins.
Annie touched and was a blessing to so many lives. She will truly be missed!
