Marquita’s Story
Marquita Raquel Stalberte affectionately known as “Kita” was born on July 29,1988, In New Orleans, Louisiana to Chalonda P. Stalberte and Felipe A. Mitchell.
Marquita grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana where she attended Edward’s Elementary and Oretha Castle Haley Elementary School, George Washington Carver Middle and High School. In 1997-1998 she became a young marine. She then relocated to Michigan City with her family, where she met a new host of family & friends that continued to love and support her. Marquita attended Michigan City High. Marquita worked in the food industry service, Home Health and Logistics. Marquita enjoyed doing nails, loved purses and heels, any iPhone gadgets or tablets, and definitely shopping. She worked hard for her children. She was a loving daughter, niece, sister, cousins, aunt, and friend. She loved her children, family and friends deeply.
Marquita exchange time for eternity at the young age of 36 on Tuesday, March 4,2025 In New Orleans, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her Grandmothers: Mary Louise Johnson Stalberte, Corine Mitchell; Brother: Michael Robert Stalberte; Special Uncle: Donald Stalberte Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her Father: Felipe Mitchell of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; Beloved Mother: Chalonda Stalberte-Smith of LaPorte,IN; bonus dad Andre Smith Sr. of LaPorte (via Gary, IN); Daughters: Iindia Stalberte of Rochester,NY; Desirae Marie Stalberte of Sauk Rapids, MN; Grandchildren: So’Loyal Stalberte & Semaj Day, Sisters: Michelle Stalberte of Kenosha, WI; Tyranesha Stalberte of Michigan City, IN; Brisa & Claudia Mitchell of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; Brothers: Michael Mitchell of Texas; Gabriel Mitchell of Tampa, FL; Aunts: Sabrina & Tonshai Stalberte of New Orleans, LA; Tanganyika Stalberte of Portage, IN; Grecian Fleming of Michigan City, IN; Alida Nunez, Debra Tirado, Uncle: Nelson Tirado, Special Friends: Barbara Day, Brittany Taylor and Tami Smith- Hart. and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts, Extended Family and Friends.
A Celebration of life will be Friday, March 21, 2025 at 3pm, Coleman & Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360.
