HER STORY...
Marion Cortez Frierson 82, of Michigan City, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2026.
Marion Cortez Frierson was born on October 16,1943 to Robert Harrison Frierson and Lennie Frierson. Marion attended Elston High School. At an early age Marion began working as a Head Start teacher. She attended classes at Purdue North Central and earned an Associate Degree to enhance her career as a teacher. She later became employed at Chrysler and remained there until the closing of the plant. She ended her working career with Life Care Nursing Home in December 2008.
Marion devoted her life to Christ and became a lifelong member to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
She loved quality time with her family. This was her time to tell people about themselves without a filter. And when asked, “Why would you say that?” she would respond by saying “Maybe I shouldn’t have said it, but It’s the truth.” Marion also enjoyed spending time talking with her friends and scrolling on apps such as Tik ToK and Face Book. She would spend hours on these apps- forwarding reels to her friends and family.
The love in her heart was unmeasurable. She didn’t mind helping anyone in need. She would always help people and say, “Don’t tell nobody.”
Marion departed this life on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at Franciscan Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her memories One daughter; Tomiko Frierson, Michigan City; One son, Rodney Liggins, Michigan City; two brothers, David Farmer and Leonard Frierson both Michigan City; two sisters, Brenda Rodchester, Pikesville, MD and Barbara Morris, Michigan City; Nine grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her two sons Timothy and Stephen Butler, her sister Ethel Allen, her brothers Robert Harrison Jr, Jerome Harrison, Edward Frierson and Leon Frierson and her grandson Brendan Blue.
A Celebration of life will be Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11am, New Hope MB Church 730 W 6th St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor Jacarra M. Williams to be Eulogist. Viewing will be 10am until time of Service at the Church. Interment will be private.
