Mrs. Luevina Chaney Massey was bom August 25, 1947 in Ripley, Tennessee to the union of Roosevelt Chaney and Mattie P. Ingram Chaney. She's the 11th of 15 children.
Luevina accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Covington, Tennessee under the leadership of the late Rev. I. R. Reed.
Luevina developed a passion for singing in the Youth Choir and playing the piano.
Luevina early education was at Avery Chapel School, in Bride, Tennessee; upon her parents relocating to Obion, Tennessee she continued her education in Obion at Rosenwell Elementary, moving on to St. John Elementary then to Frazier Elementary with graduating from Frazier High School crowned as School Queen.
After Luevina graduation, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1968, where she met and married Rev. Perry Massey. To this union three children were born: Glenn Chaney, Nichole Massey-Getter and Perry Massey Jr. The family attended the Woodlawn Baptist Church, under the leadership of Elder Hill.
She departed this life on July 16, 2023 in Warren, Michigan.
Luevina leaves to cherish her memory her children: Glenn (Heather) Chaney, Nichole Massey-Getter and Perry Massey Jr.; six siblings: Willie B. Bonds, Minister Lurlie Phillips, Earline Maclin, Jearline Middlebrooks, Minister John Chaney and Mary Hutchons; sixteen grandchildren; brothers in-law: Earl, Anthony, Wendell, Warren, Eugene Tolbert and Jeff Massey; sisters in-laws: Shirley Cotton and Angie Lewis; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Luevina was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Perry Massey; parents: Roosevelt and Mattie Chaney; brothers: Andrew Chaney and Roosevelt Chaney Jr.; sister, Mammie B. Chaney-Maclin; sisters in-law: Tina Massey and Forestine Massey.
