Lamar “Shackadelic” Sims affectionately known as "Shack" was born on April 12, 1934 in Mississippi to the union of the late Lily Sims and Rodger McGregor.
Lamar attended Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Ernest Jones and he later attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Allen Briggs.
Lamar enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, spending time with friends and family. He also was a handy man who helped wherever help was needed. He was a proud member of the “Flying Eagles Gospel Group”. He would also accompany his son Kenny Boyd and his gospel group “The Friendly Six” on tours and he would have everyone laughing and enjoying his company. He was a funeral goer who attended many funerals to support the family members who lost their loved ones.
“Shack” passed away on April 14, 2020 at his home. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ernestine Williams, Katherine Garrett, Junior Weatherspoon, J.C. Weber, E.B. Sims, Ozell Tillman, Eugene McGregor and Mary McGregor; one son, Kenny Boyd.
Shack was a funny, flirty, very feisty old man. He would curse you out one minute and tell you to go to the store or sit down and chat a while with him. He was a very bold speaker whatever came up came out lol but he loved hard and fierce at all times.
He survived by one son, Jerry Carter, daughter-in-law, Regina Boyd: grandchildren, Evelyn Duncan, Jermale Duncan, Darryl Duncan and Joshua Duncan and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins and a slew of friends.
Lamar was laid to rest at Patton Cemetery in Laporte, Indiana.
