In Loving Memory of L.K. Small, Jr.
Born on December 12, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, L.K. lived a life filled with laughter, love, and deep connection to family and faith.
A longtime member of Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ, L.K. found purpose in his spiritual life and community. Known for his creativity and hands-on spirit, he was always building, fixing, or helping someone in need. His presence was warm, his spirit steady, and his humor unforgettable. He loved gifting laughter, performing tricks, dancing, and being surrounded by those he loved. Though he didn’t hold a long-term profession, his work ethic and ingenuity spoke volumes about the kind of man he was.
L.K. was a devoted father to Lorraine Harmon (Michigan City, IN), Marie Small (San Diego, CA), Lynette Fuller (Louisiana), Melissa Wren (Michigan City, IN), and godson Don Blesaw (Benton Harbor, MI). He was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren: Randy Bonds, Dennis Harmon, Desiree Squeezart, Denisha Harmon, Darius Harmon, Dalajia Cooks, Dale Cooks, Dante’ Small, Jasmine Branch, Jorelle Branch, Shamiya Fuller, Nylah Fuller, Sakoya Wren, Mahogany Wren, Tanaya Wren, and Tamya Moore.
He is survived by six loving siblings: Kim Cooper, Shelia Small, Anthony Small, Kisha Small, Quincy Small, and Leeotis Small (all of San Diego, CA), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
L.K. Small, Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Michigan City, Indiana. was preceded in death by his parents, Madie Mosley and L.K. Small, Sr., and his brother, Ernest Riley.
L.K.’s legacy lives on in the joy he brought, the love he gave, and the memories held close by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 2pm at Greater Powerhouse COGIC 428 N. Woodland Ave. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor Edker Hull Sr., to be Eulogist.
Viewing will be 1pm until time of service at the Church. Interment will be at a later date. A full obituary will be forthcoming.
