HIS STORY...
Kevin Darnell Henderson, beloved son of the late Jacqueline and Arthur Henderson Jr., was born on April 2, 1974, in Gary, Indiana. He attended Gary public schools and left home early in life, eager to explore the world and all it had to offer. Known for his strong work ethic, Kevin was a "Jack of all trades," admired and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues alike.
At his core, Kevin was a devoted family man. He was affectionately called “Uncle Kevin,” “Cousin Kevin,” or simply Brother by those whose lives he touched. His kindness, humor, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Kevin was baptized at a young age and renewed his faith in Christ in July 2024 at Bread of Life Church in Indianapolis. On May 15, 2020 Kevin entered a spiritual union with his wife, Yolanda Marie Starks, who he leaves to cherish. Kevin requested this union to be blessed again on September 17, 2024, at Indiana University Hospital, by the Chaplain.
Kevin is survived by his daughter: Leah Henderson of LaPorte, IN; and stepdaughter: Maryanna Alene Simpson, his sister: Felicia Henderson-Bradshaw of Tempe, AZ; and his brothers: Arthur L. (Crystal) Henderson of Merrillville, IN; and Andre Henderson of Gary, IN; He also leaves behind his aunts: Violet Henderson, Sheila (Willie) Steele, Helenza (Wiley) Carey, Uncles: Dwayne Henderson, Dennis Henderson, Joseph (Ayesha) Anderson, Reverend William (Delores) Anderson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kevin departed this life on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Indiana University Hospital at the age of 50. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents: Arthur Henderson Sr. and Phyllis Anderson, his sister: Arleta Henderson, Uncle: Raymond Anderson, Aunt: Patricia Hill, Godmothers: Eula Mae Pam and Carolyn Jean Lewis.
In his free time, Kevin had many passions, including working on cars, installing stereos, listening to music, and enjoying shrimp. He loved spending time with family and often shared laughter over his favorite TV shows like *Sanford and Son*, *CSI, Miami*, *Sistas*, *The Oval*, and *Man vs. Food*. If there was one thing Kevin loved most, it was making sure everyone around him was fed and smiling.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST at Hope Worship Center, 6851 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46268. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sutherland Cemetery, 440 Millersville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
