Karen was born on May 5,1953 at Pawating hospital in Niles, Michigan to the late John Webster and her surviving mother Lucille Webster.
She was one of two born children. Karen accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.T. Shipp and found a new church home at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ricardo Taylor. Karen through the years became ill and later moved to South Bend Indiana. She loved to cook, play cards and bingo. She adopted Mother Geraldine Taylor as a Godmother, friend, and mentor.
Karen L. Taylor departed this life November 17, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father: John Webster, brother: Fred Webster, grandmother: Mattie Lee Baker and Nephew: JaSean Harris.
Karen leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: 3 children: Arthur (Susan) Simpson of Venice, Florida; Delisha Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana; Lucinda Taylor of Montrose, Minnesota; 4 stepchildren: Rubean Taylor, Lamar Taylor, Winroe Taylor and Ruth Taylor all of Michigan City, Indiana; 9 Grandchildren: Melanie Simpson, Artrina Peters, Zackeya Taylor, Bri’Sha Taylor, BriAnn Taylor, BriOntae Taylor, Mitchell Rose Jr., Ayres Adams, Nevaeh Latin, 7 Great- grandchildren: Makai Anderson ,Aubri Hargro ,Zah’Mya Taylor, Za’Kye Taylor, Za’lonii Taylor, Ayres Adams Jr., Messiah Viaud, 5 nieces and 3 Nephews: Jameka, Jesscia, Shana, Fred Jr., Webster, De’Angelo and Delvin Coleman, two sisters: Bernice Adams of Michigan City, Indiana; Deloris Coleman of Cleveland, Ohio; 3 brothers: John Webster, Larry Coleman, and Preston Coleman all of Memphis, Tennessee; Michael Williams of Michigan City, Indiana; a close sister-in-law Beverly Davis, and Special friends: Eloise Martin and Cynthia Kelley all of South Bend, Indiana, and her Dog: Big Bell Taylor, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Karen’s presence, smile, love and laughter will be missed by all that knew her.
A Celebration of life will take place on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11am (EDT-South Bend Time) at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ricardo Taylor to do Eulogy. Viewing will be 10am until time of service at the church. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens 5700 W US HWY 20 Michigan City, Indiana 46360 immediately following services.
