Joseph Ronald Thompson Jr. was born to the late Joseph Thompson Sr. and Mary Thompson on July 14, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois.
Joseph graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago, Illinois and afterwards obtained an associate’s degree at Purdue University. He was a member of the Brothers of Society. Joseph was a dedicated and loyal employee at Michigan City Plastics and IN/KOTE in New Carlisle, Indiana. He retired after 18 years and moved to Arizona, where he spent the rest of his days. Joseph enjoyed running and exercising, watching television and eating sweets.
Joseph departed this life on November 1, 2024 in Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and 2 Siblings: John (Alma)Thompson, and Marilyn McGuire, along with a host of other relatives that went on before him.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memories his loving Wife: Freida Thompson of 32 years, 7 Children: Michael (Lashawn) Fly, Joy R. White, Ranetta A. Thompson, Kisha (Edward) Parish, Joel D. Thompson, Joseph M. Thompson III, Joseph H. (Jasmine) Matthews Jr., Siblings: Melvin Thompson, Susan (Rev. Michael) Payton, Milton McGuire III, Lynette McGuire, Kevin McGuire, Kimberly (Bill) Hogan, and Tiffeny (Anttwon) Crawford, Grandchildren: Terah (Timothy) Britton, Amber Buchanan, Thomas Fly, Mahogany Fly, Dominique White, Demetrius White, Taylor Fly, Tyler Parish, Jahmyre Johnson, Spencer Cannon, Dmarco Cannon, Tristen Matthews, Giovanna Thompson, Joseph Matthews III, Josiah M. Torres, and Josiah Matthews, Great-Grandchildren: Cadence Wilcher, Brooklyn Britton, Erianna Morris, Zariyah Fly, Xavier Fly, and Elias Matthews, a special friend: Bertha (Al) Gammage, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of life will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 2pm, Zion Hill (Location 2) formerly Plesant Hill MB Church 717 E. 10th St. Michigan City, IN 46360 with Pastor Michael Payton to do Eulogy. Visitation will be 1pm until time of service at the Church. Burial will be Tuesday, November 12, 2024, 11am at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens 5700 W HWY US 20 Michigan City, IN 46360.
Joseph’s love, laughter, presence, and smile will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
