Jose Antwon Jenkins Sr. was born on February 27, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jose Crosby and Georgina Jenkins. He later made his home in Michigan City, Indiana, where he built a life rooted in resilience, growth, and purpose.
Jose was a man of ambition, determination, and had a strong work ethic. As an entrepreneur, he took pride in his work and maintained multiple business ventures, always striving to create opportunities not only for himself but for others. He Owned and Operated Midwest Custom Event Center and Midwest Sling Shots LLC. Jose also owned and operated What’s 1 More LLC, a Food Pantry, and J & K Rental Properties. He was a member of The MBA of Northwest Indiana. In recent years, he began shifting his focus to what mattered most, his faith, and family, whom he loved deeply. Faith played an important role in Jose’s life. He found strength and guidance in his daily Bible readings and maintained a close relationship with God.
He attended Community Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Terry A. O'Neal. He was formally a Member of Mt. Zion Church under the leadership of Pastor Stanley Mason where he served as Layman and the Kitchen Ministry. Jose had a deep love for his community and was known for encouraging others, especially the youth, and wanted them to pursue positive paths and greater opportunities. Jose enjoyed spending time at the YMCA. He believed in giving back and uplifting those around him. Above all, Jose cherished his family. He was a proud Father and Grandfather who took great pride in his Children and Grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. He enjoyed traveling and found happiness in life’s simple moments. He also found peace and discipline in working out, a daily routine that reflected his strength both physically and mentally.
Jose Antwon Jenkins Sr., age 50, of Michigan City, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2026. He was preceded in death by his Father, Jose Crosby; Maternal Grandparents: George (Xenia) Jenkins Sr.; Paternal Grandparents; and his beloved Children: Kamilion Jenkins and Jose Jenkins Jr. whom he missed sorely, 2 Uncles: Gerald Jenkins and Gary Jenkins, a Cousin: Cameron Knox.
He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to his Mother: Georgina Jenkins; his Siblings: Ebony (Jevonald) Jenkins Austin, Ivory (Greg) Jenkins, Shenita Hinton, and Joia Sangs; his loving Children whom he adored: Kahlia (Darius) Dunning, Kyanna (Iyana) Jenkins, Kaileigh Jenkins, and Kinsleigh Jenkins; his Bonus Children: Antonio Hurt, Sierra Anthony, Alexis Tompkins, and Karter Hicks; his 21 cherished Grandchildren; the love of his life: Quinteesha Johnson; his Godson, Legend Jose Allen Rose; and his close Friends: Brad Rose, Charlos Graham, and Major Curtis, along with a “HOST” of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many extended family members and loved ones who will miss him dearly. Jose will be remembered for his kindness, his strength, his entrepreneurial spirit, his unwavering faith, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of life will be Saturday, April 4, 2026 11am at Zion Hill Baptist Church 123 Helen St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor Ron Gaston to be Eulogist.
Viewing will be 10am until time of service at the Church. Interment will be Monday, April 6, 2026 at 2pm, Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
