John Davis “Punch” Guy, 84, was born February 1, 1939, in Marion, Arkansas to James and Icelina (Golden) Guy, they both preceded him in death.

He migrated from Arkansas to Detroit, Michigan then to Michigan City making it his home in his twenties. John was a known hard worker who worked a host of jobs including Weil-McClain. Later in life he became self-employed scraping metals here in Michigan City.

Punch favorites food were definitely sweets! He loved peach cobbler; Louisiana crunch cake and his snacks were buttermilk cornbread and fresh fruits. He was highly active and loved children. There was nothing that he loved more than being a father.

He was a part of an award-winning old-school car club that appeared in summer parades. Punch was a sociable person who like to hang out with his best buddies Frank Davis, Joe Pender, James Nickles and many other family and friends. He was known to be a sharp dresser who loved to take care of his cars.

John gained his wings on September 17, 2023 at Aperion Care in Michigan City, Indiana. He was one of six children and his siblings, James Guy Jr, Willie Lee Guy, Leroy Guy, Zula Mae (Guy) Williams, Birdie Mae (Guy) Williams, all have preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children whom he adored: Crystal Louise Guy, and Louise Mock both of Michigan City, Indiana; Laverne Thompson of Flint, Michigan; Joseph Thompson of Chicago, Illinois; Shirley (Sylvester) Jackson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lathenia Culpepper, Tyrone Pittman and Lakesha Roberts all of Michigan City, Indiana; a host of grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Lujean Gibbs, Debra Guy, Flordene Guy, Renee Guy, Ray Guy, Patricia (Hollimon) Johnson, Michael Williams and Freddie (Williams) Brown; special friend, Buddy Pope of Arkansas; along with a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of life will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 11am, at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church (formerly known as Mt. Zion) 123 Helen St. Michigan City, IN 46360. Viewing will be 10am until of service. Interment will be private.

Punch will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
