Jerry Leon Adams, Sr.

Jerry Leon Adams Sr was born in Chicago Illinois on Friday March 3, 1944 to the union of Silena and Lee Grant Adams. He was the sixth born of seven sons.
 
Jerry attended Burke Elementary School here in Chicago. Soon after, his parents preceded him in death, and he was fostered to Mr. and Mrs. Heard. Jerry then moved with the Heard’s to Michigan where he attended Three Rivers High School. There he was an amazing and skilled athlete participating, in track, basketball and football with his younger brother Robert. While living in Michigan Jerry was an active member at Bethel Baptist Church.
 
After graduating high school Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a jet engine mechanic. In April of 1965 Jerry completed his tour of duty and was honorably discharged.
 
Soon after leaving the service Jerry moved back to Chicago where he met the love of his life Veronica Joyce. On Christmas eve of 1966 he was united in holy matrimony to Veronica, which lasted for 42 years. To this union where born two children, Shawn Denise Adams and Jerry Leon Adams Jr, affectionately called J.J.
 
Jerry was employed at Zenith Radio Corporation for several years.
 
Jerry was a very outspoken, smart and witty person, who was loved by every person he came into contact with. He was always the person to pick up the phone to call and check on any and everyone, and he will be missed immensely.
 
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Veronica, grandson Sauvignon, as well as his brothers Marion, Bernard, John, Leonard and Robert. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children Shawn and Jerry, his grandchildren Jerisha and Darius, who cared for him throughout his illness. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren Londyn Joi, Akira and Shawndale, his brother Al, his special companion Naomi Mial and a host of family and friends.
