Jemel Hutcherson Obituary

Jemel Otis Hutcherson was the second child born to Stacy Bell and Anthony Hutcherson Sr, October 20,1987 in Chicago Illinois. His beloved mother Stacy, grandparents Nancy Bell, Loice Woods, Pansey Hutcherson, Harry Hutcherson all preceded him in death.

Jemel was raised in the Altgeld Gardens Community, Blocks 2 & 10, where he attended Aldridge & Carver Middle grammar schools and was a graduate of Carver Area High School in 2006.  After high school he was employed with the Chicago Park District, East Lake Management and just recently received his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit.

After the untimely death of his beloved Mom, Stacy, his big brother DeMarco and Sister-in-law, Nicke, stepped up to raise Jemel and his brother, Anthony (Tone) to adulthood. As surrogate parents they did a wonderful job.

J-Fly, Mel Mel, J Millz or Snuggz, as he was known to many, was a funny, wise cracking man who inspired and touched so many during his journey on this planet earth. He brought laughter and joy whenever he was around.

In 2007, Jemel met the love of his life, Jasmine. They wed on May 7th 2015 in holy matrimony and together with their children Jaylah, Cherish & Jemel Jr., they accomplished many great things. Most recently, they purchased their very first beautiful family home and shared excitement and joy with family at their housewarming.

Jemel was a proud family man always doing some handyman work around the house and always cooking or grilling. We will never forget his lamb rack steam bags which he named “Racks on Racks”. Also his love for the LA Lakers.

Jemel left us September 4, 2021, to reunite with his Mom, Stacy, who he always wished to see and know. He was the little brother of this family and was a blessing to us all.
He leaves to adore his everlasting loving memories, his wife: Jasmine, children: Jaylah, Cherish and Jemel Jr.; Brothers: DeMarco (Nicke) Anthony Jr. (Brittany) extended brothers Mario, Dalton, Dontell and Richard. Sister: Nefeteri; Father: Anthony Sr.; Aunts: Beverly Bell, Janice McElroy, Patrice Martin, Gwendoline Hutcherson, CurtisAnn DeGeorge, Cleo Jones, Marilyn Hutcherson, Loisteen Walker (Enrico) and Phyllis Woods; Uncles: Gregory McElroy, Donte Bell, George Hutcherson, Frederick Hutcherson, William Woods, Donald Woods (Linda), Dalton Woods, Herrod Woods (Angela); Grandfather: Roosevelt Bell, Mother-in-law: Monique Obi (David) Special close cousins: Marlon Bell, Tyler Hutcherson and a large host of cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23
