Janice Collins, Age 66, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she knew.
Born in Michigan City on May 9th, Janice dedicated 33 years of her life to serving as a Correctional Officer at Indiana State Prison, demonstrating her strength and commitment.
Her passions in life included gardening, fashion, and spending quality time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Janice’s nurturing spirit and vibrant personality made her a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. She also loved going to church where she was a devoted member of Christ Temple Apostolic Ministries.
She is survived by her Husband; Rickey Collins Sr, Children: Rickey Collins, Jemeena Collins (Malachi Mitchell), Lesha Quennetta Collins, her Sisters: Carlotta (John) Adam), Margret Macon, Alice (Gene) Jefferies, Brothers: Gerald (Regina) Mitchell, Garry (Lesbia) Mitchell, and Charles Williams, who will forever hold her memory close.
A Celebration of life will be Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Christ Temple Apostolic Church 2308 E. Michigan Blvd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 at 12 Noon with Bishop Joe L. Bennett to be Eulogist. Viewing will be 11am until time of service at the Church. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
Janice was preceded in death by her Mother: Roosevelt Mitchell, Father: Major Fleming her Brother: Johnny Mitchell, her Sister: Faye White and Granddaughter: Amari Collins
