James Henry Garrett affectionately known as (“Pie") was Born on February 18, 1942 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Ira Garrett and Geneva Bland Garrett.
After his birth the family decided to move north to Michigan City, Indiana which became his home for the next 82 years. Once James became of age he got a job at Weil- McClain where he worked for over thirty years to support his family. On October 20, 2014 he joined in holy matrimony with Christy Perry which was the love of his life until his heavenly departure. He was a Man of great morals and values who believed in hard work and dedication. James was very family oriented and loved spending time with family, taking road trips, fishing (which was a family tradition) and loved watching old westerns.
James Henry Gained his wings on May 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother: Geneva Bland Garrett; father: Ira Garrett; three sons: Walter Garrett, Wilford Garrett, James Garrett, his siblings: Della Mae Garrett, BillBo Garrett, Elnora Mcbride, Lizzie Simmons, JD Garrett, Lonnie Garrett, Cassie Walker, Ella Mae Campbel, Tom Garrett, and Sam Garrett along with other relatives and friends that awaited his arrival.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife: Christy Garrett; 1 Sister: Rosalind 'Rosie" Walker; 15 : Debra Garrett, Sandra Garrett, Yvette Garrett, Richard Garrett, Patrick Garrett, Regina Garrett, Hattie Mea Veasey, Sherry Garrett, Marie Winwright, Malinda (Darius) Mathews, Mattline (Anthony) Dockery, Tongo Powell, Te layah Diaz, Timonthy Diaz, Dominque Diaz, and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
James Henry will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 3-5pm at Coleman & Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360.
