Jacqueline M. Wilson Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie"  Marie Wilson was born on February 17, 1956 to Mary E. Hudson and L. B. Wilson, in Michigan City, Indiana.

She attended Rogers High School and was a life-long resident of Michigan City.

Jackie, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed hanging out with her best friends, Corlette Lipsey and her sister-cousin, Sharon Brown.  Every morning they would gather together to drink their “happy coffee”. They would then laugh and went on to get into lots of trouble.

She spent many years of joy and happiness raising her four sons. She loved to cook, enjoy being with people and to open her doors to whoever needed a place to lay their heads. Anyone who knew Jackie, knew they could count on her annual birthday call, when she would render her Jackie Wilson birthday solo, filled with laughter.

One of the greatest moments in her life, was when Jackie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She was anointed with a holy gift of laughter, which was infectious and would resonate throughout the entire church at Life Temple Church of God in Christ, where she was a faithful member.  She was an usher, sang in the choir, was a Sunday School secretary and a very faithful member of the church’s Nursing Home Ministry.  Even when Jackie became a resident at the Life Care Nursing Home, she still attended the monthly nursing home ministry service there and gave her exciting and inspirational testimony of how the Lord brought her through to survive five separate brain surgeries.

There is much laughter in Heaven, now that Jackie has arrived there. She took on her heavenly wings on September 10, 2021 and went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Marshall A. Cowan, her sisters, Connie J. Parchman and Rosie Wilson, and special friend, Corlette M. Lipsey.

Her Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 12:00 noon, with viewing from 11am until time of service at Coleman and Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, IN 46360 with Pastor Robert  Fleming to give Eulogy.

Jackie leaves to cherish her loving memories:  Sons: Dwayne Cowan and Demarcus Wright, both of Michigan City, IN; Matthew (Melina) Cowan, of Italy; Special Son, D’Andre Hunt, Michigan City, IN; Brothers: Levi Glen (Carmetta) Wilson, Mark Anthony Hudson, John (Carlotta) Adams, all of Michigan City, IN; Robert Hudson, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lee Earl “Maine” (Jean) Reid, Chicago, IL; Sisters: Carolyn Moore, Michigan City, IN, Linda Hudson and Barbara Banks, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jill (Ernest) Childs, of Jonesboro, GA; Three granddaughters, Four grandsons, 13 great grandchildren, special grandson, Kentrelle Butler; and a host of other relatives, Church family, and friends.
