Jackline T. Atwater daughter of the late Mary E. Campbell and Jackie Thomas, was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
She relocated to Michigan City, Indiana and was an active member in the community for over 45 years. "Miss Jackie" (as many people called her) served her community in many different ways and was many things to many people. She dedicated her life to public service and her philosophy was to treat everyone with "Dignity and Respect". She applied that same philosophy as Trustee for Coolspring Township. She was elected for two consecutive terms and held that position until the time of her passing. She was also a Supervisor for LaPorte County Juvenile Detention center providing almost 30 years of service. She was the EAP Program Manager for North Central Community Action Agency for over 20 years providing an essential service for those in need until she retired to assume her role as Coolspring Township Trustee.
Jackline Atwater departed this life on May 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Campbell and sister in Law Patricia Campbell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Coleman and Hicks Chapel
101 Karwick Rd. Michigan City, IN 46360, from 3 to 6pm.
A traditional funeral service and burial is scheduled for next week in
Chapel Hill, North Carolina services times and dates to be announced.
Jackie's beautiful life, amazing spirit, and infectious smile will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Soljourna T. Atwater of Michigan City, IN; Roy (Candice) Atwater of Ostego, MI; Prentiss (Camesha) Hervey of Desoto,Texas; her five grandson's which she affectionately referred to as "the boys' ', Adrian, Addison, Mason, Ashton and Christian,she also leaves behind nine siblings, Barbara Lenoir of LaPorte, IN; Robert Campbell of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Diane Petterson of Florida; Teresa McMillian of Mebane, North Carolina; Kevin Donaldson of Michigan City; Arelene Stevenson of Florida; George Gardner of Florida; Angelo Garner of Jacksonville, Florida; Rosada Gardner of Michigan City; she also leaves behind a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
