HIS LEGACY...

Ja’Mieriea Donyeal Woodard, affectionately known as Nuke, made his debut in the lives of his parents Jermaine Woodard and Rae-Londa Sims. on September 15, 1998 in Michigan City, Indiana.

Ja’Mieriea grew up in Michigan City, Indiana. He attended Michigan City Area Schools and graduated from Michigan City High School (MCHS). During his attendance at Michigan City High School, he participated in Track and Football. All who came to know Ja’Mieriea, knew he held a strong love for and a great passion to play the sport of football. He began playing football and perfecting his skill as a young kid during his participation in Pop Warner Football.

Ja’Mieriea was a member of the first team from Michigan City to compete on the national level during his Pop Warner career. He went on to play and excel in the sport of football during his time attending MCHS. His outstanding performance in football afforded him the opportunity to go on and play at a collegiate level. He was able to obtain his Associates Degree in General Studies from Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas. Ja’Mieriea’s love and passion for football was infectious and motivated all who shared the football field with him. His involvement in football allowed him to develop many ties with and touch several people in the community.

Ja’Mieriea was a loving, kind, funny, outgoing, respectful young man. He loved his family and friends beyond measure, and he never passed up an opportunity to show it. He took pride in his family and friends knowing how much he loved them. His smile was infectious and could light up any room. His quick wit and antics would leave everyone immersed in laughter. He loved to see others laugh and bask in their happiness. He was truly a free spirit and always thought outside of the box. He loved traveling and experiencing new endeavors. He loved music. He loved fashion; hence he never passed up an opportunity to have a photoshoot. Lastly but certainly not least, Ja’Mieriea held a strong love for Christ. He was God-fearing young man and held an immense faith in Him. He came to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Ja’Mieriea Donyeal Woodard completed his earthly assignment and entered in God’s care on July 19, 2025 in Michigan City, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather: Oscar Meriweather, Maternal Grandfather: Raymond Smith Jr., Paternal Great-Grandparents: Crenden and Irene Woodard, Maternal Great-Grandparents: Wilbert and Marie Bureau, God Mother: Deborah Ann Sparkman, “TeTe”: Attorney Kimberly Kiner, and Friend Jada Jones, Kannan Martinez. 

He leaves his legacy of love and fond memories with an abundance of loved ones, his Father: Jermaine Woodard, his Mother: Rae-Londa (Clarence) Sims, his Twin Sister: Ja’Mieria Woodard, loving Grandmothers: Lucille Bureau and Shirley Meriweather, Grandfather: Myron Mitchell Sr.,  Great-Grandmother: Dell White,  Aunts: Yvonna Goodwin, Takita Moore, LaTasha Smith, Chauntay Rouse, Uncles: Glen Meriweather, Orson Hudson, Byron Meriweather, Nakita Bohannon, Raymond Smith III, and Bruce Smith. He shared a lifelong bond with a set of extraordinary Friends/Brothers: Aryuan Cain-Veasey, Orson Eckwood, Markice Hurt Jr., Noah Jones Jr., Thiage Doran, Dylan Underwood, and Ben Forenight, along with a host of other relatives, cousins, and friends. He was also an endearing cousin to a host of family members. In remembrance of Ja’Mieria “Nuke” Woodard, please take time to love a little harder, smile a little more often and spread joy and kindness. He would take great appreciation in all of us imparting the love God between one another.

A Celebration of life will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11am, Life Temple COGIC,  3707 W US HWY 20 Laporte, Indiana 46350. Viewing will be 10am until time of service at the Church. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. 

A Wake will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 4-7pm at Zion Hill MBC (Formerly Mt. Zion Church) 123 Helen St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360.
