Iola Foeshe Obituary

Iola Foeshe 91, of  Michigan City, Indiana departed this life on January 2, 2020 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Funeral services will be 11am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Freedom in the Word Ministry 222 McClelland Avenue, Michigan City, Indiana, with Pastor Archie Bowmen Johnson to give the eulogy. Viewing will be 10am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the church until the time of service.

Iola Johnson Foeshe was born August 2, 1928 in Pleasant Hill, Mississippi. She was the youngest child of Green Johnson Sr. and Nancy Green Johnson.

Iola accepted Christ at St. Matthew Baptist Church in 1939 by being baptized.

In 1955, she married Eugene J. Foeshe and they raised two children Mary Louise Wilborn and James E. (Joanne) Johnson.

Iola moved from Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois and then to Michigan City, Indiana where she finally made this her home.

Iola hobbies were fishing, cross word puzzles and watching the Chicago Cubs. She was over elated when they won the World Series in 2016.

After living a long loving life and after five generations, she leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughter, Mary L. Wilborn; seven grandchildren, Nancy Scott of Indiana, Robin (Thomas) Engram Wilson of Virginia, Eugene Wilborn of Illinois, Beatrice (Roger) Cooper of Maryland, Josetta (Toroka Warren) Wilborn of Indiana, Felice (Barry) Kelly of Indiana and Tammy Wilborn of Indiana. She was privileged to leave a legacy behind of twenty-one great grandchildren and twenty-two great great grandchildren and a host of special nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene J. Foeshe; son, James Johnson; brothers, Robert Lee Johnson, Roosevelt Johnson, Coston Johnson, Loyd Johnson, William Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Green Johnson, Jr. and Algie Johnson; sisters, Clara Hardy, Fannie Moore, Gertha Lee Johnson and Liddy Johnson; grandchildren, Iona Johnson, Joseph Johnson and Reuben Johnson; beloved God-Daughter, Priscilla Morris.
