Life Reflections:
Herbert was born on March 17, 1934 the oldest son born to Herbert Sr. and Minnie Young.
He attended Prairie School in Prairie, Mississippi. After completing school, he joined the US Army. On July 3, 1964 he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Young whom preceded him in death. He worked for Pullman Standard as a welder until it closed, as well Gary Steel Mill, and for Apollo Detective Agency.
Herbert enjoyed going to his home Church, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He sang in the male chorus there for many years. He also would frequent Blue Chip until his health begin to fail him. His favorite thing to do was talk about Jesus.
Herbert was promoted from earth to glory on August 19, 2022, with his brother John and his niece Kathy by his side. He was also preceded in death by his parents: Herbert Sr., and Minnie Young, and late wife: Mary Ann Young, three brothers: Richard, Henry, and David Young, three sisters: Ethel Nixon, Mary B. Hunter, and Willie B. Young, two dogs, Susie and Phoebe Young.
He leaves to cherish his fond but unforgettable memories, two brothers: John E. Young of Michigan City, Indiana; and Lindsey Randle of Prairie, Mississippi; two sisters: Cathy Stevenson of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Jean (Greg) Holt of Knoxville, Tennessee; one special aunt: Martha McMillian of Prairie, Mississippi; two daughters: April (Kenny) Moore of Tuscumbia, Alabama; Suprena (Eric) Smith of Michigan City, Indiana; special niece: Kathy Nixon of Michigan City, Indiana; special nephews: Toroka Warren of Portage, Indiana; and Mario Ward of Michigan City, Indiana; two god-sons: Hershell Williams and Damar Howell both of Michigan City, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, Special friends: Audrey and Family, Bert Peterson, Jalisa Farmer, Deacon Charles Wright, Deacon Leroy Atkins, and Clarence Hood, all of Michigan City, Indiana, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
BRUH'S LOVE, LAUGHTER, SMILE AND PRESENCE WILL BE SORELY MISSED BY ALL THAT KNEW HIM!!!
A Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 12 noon, at New Hope Baptist Church 730 W 6th St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360. Visitation will be at 11am until of service at the Church, with Pastor Jacarra Williams to do Eulogy. Burial will be at 11am Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
