Frederick William (“Fred”) Holmes

HIS STORY...

Frederick William Holmes was born on April 7,1973, in Michigan City, Indiana. He lived a life marked by humility, quiet strength, and deep inner resolve.

Frederick was content with each phase of life and carried himself with a gentle, grounded presence. He was appreciative, not one to complain, and preferred things simple rather than fancy. He held firmly to his beliefs, yet remained kind and soft-spoken, with a calm nature that put others at ease. Though he often carried a great deal inside, he rarely worried aloud and faced life with steady composure.

He had a warm, genuine smile and a quiet way of showing up when it truly mattered. Frederick loved basketball and found joy in the game, but above all, he valued peace, consistency, and loyalty. His presence was never loud, yet it was deeply felt by those who knew him.

Frederick William Holmes, age 52, passed away on December 12, 2025. 

Frederick is survived by his daughter: Swansi Smith, a devoted mother: Mary Holmes; his sisters: Chassidy "Foley" Falade, and Tabetha Spencer, He also leaves behind his nieces: Bianca Crawford, and Jada Spencer; his nephews: Vijay Gopidas, Bryson Falade and Braylon Falade, and his great-niece: Ariah Crawford, along with his youngest great-nephew: Deion Crawford, best friends/cousins: Twon Burks, Chris McGregor and Hollis Edwards, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 12noon, at Zion Hill MBC (Location 1) 123 Helen St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor James E. Lane Jr, to be Eulogist. A Viewing will 11am until time of service at the Church. Interment will be private. 

Fred's love, laughter, presence, and smile will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
