Freddie Shipp Obituary

Freddie Bennie Shipp was born July 15, 1952, to the union of the late Rev. Robert Thomas Shipp and Susanna Hodge Shipp in Blytheville, Arkansas. He was the seventh of thirteen children.

Viewing will be Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 3:00pm to 3:30pm at Coleman & Hicks Chapel. Services will be private. Burial will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Freddie Bennie Shipp departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Franciscan Health of Michigan City, Indiana. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cedric Shipp, Mickey Shipp and Nathaniel Shipp.

Freddie was baptized at an early age, when he professed his hope in Christ.

 He was avid sportsman, excelling in track, football and he won the State Champion in Wrestling for Elston Senior High School. Freddie’s hobbies were collecting comic books, his collection was very extensive. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving his country as a Sailor. Because of his fortitude, he was a drill sergeant for the new recruits.

Left to mourn his passing, is one daughter, Deanna Walker, Houston, TX; siblings, Rev. R. T. Shipp Jr. (Lorna), Nashville, TN; Joseph Shipp (Deborah), Bloomington, IL; Loyce Gaston, Chicago, IL;  Era Marshall (Raymond), Silver Spring, MD; Linda Hall (Tommie), Little Rock, AR; Melba Weathers (William); Marvin Shipp; Denice Shipp-Glenn, Michigan City, IN; Catherine Dixon (Larry), Gosnell, AR; one uncle Henry Doan, Flint, MI; along with a host of friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was loved and he will be greatly missed by his entire family.
