HER STORY...
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Florence Wisniewski, passed away on May 14, 2026, in Michigan City, Indiana.
Born and raised on a farm in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, Florence bravely traveled alone to Chicago, Illinois, where she met her husband, John Wisniewski, and together they built a family. They raised four daughters: Sara Wisniewski, Margaret Wisniewski, Jennifer Wisniewski, and Mary Wisniewski.
After the passing of her husband in 1980, Florence raised her girls as a single mother with incredible strength and determination during a time when doing so often felt impossible. After a career working with law firms, she became an avid reader of crime novels and loved playing cards — something that became a regular and cherished part of family life while her children were growing up.
Florence is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Houghman, Sara Wisniewski, Margaret Wisniewski, Jennifer Wisniewski, and Mary Jane Farnsworth (Wisniewski); her grandchildren, John Wisniewski, Stella O’Connor, David Farnsworth, Michael Farnsworth, and Christopher Farnsworth; and her great-grandchildren, Isabella Wisniewski and Nora Wisniewski.
She is also survived by her beloved sister and best friend, Fern Orth, whom she spoke with every single day.
Florence will be remembered for her resilience, intelligence, humor, and the fierce love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
