Florence E. (Armstrong) Collins

Florence E. Collins, 82, Gary, departed this life on May 17, 2018 at Southlake Methodist Hospital, Merrillville.

A celebration of life will be 11am May 25, 2018 at Christ Baptist Church 4700 E. 7th Avenue with Rev. Lawrence E. Robertson to officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be 9am May 25, 2018 at the church until the time of service.

Florence was born Sept. 7, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to the late Lawrence William Armstrong and Lenex Hayes. On December 22, 1973, she married William Frank Collins, he preceded her in death on October 15, 2004.

Florence was a faithful member of Christ Baptist Church where she served diligently in the food pantry and Women for Christ. She retired from St. Catherine's Hospital as a Pay Master.  Florence was an avid bowler and she was on several bowling leagues.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her children, Ricardo Lottie, South Bend, Bridgette Collins, Dominique Collins,  Ricardo L. Collins, Riviera Collins and Carlos Collins all of Indianapolis; two sisters, Laverne Armstrong, Michigan City and Bernice Gray, Euless,Texas; special friends, Toni and Willie Price, Rena Brown and Gail Hamer; nine grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family.

Florence was preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Hudson; siblings, Ruth Garner, Lawrence Armstrong, Donald Armstrong and Geraldine Adair.
