Evangelist Mary Alice Mitchell

Her Life Story....

Evangelist Mary Alice Mitchell was born on December 26, 1926 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi to Florence Curry (Brooks) and Eddie Paxton.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She Graduated from Hazlehurst High School. She loved cooking and being around family. You would catch her working hard for the Lord. She loved to sing and worship the Lord. You would never catch her without singing, cooking, and her famous bible. Mary loved her grandchildren especially “Bee Bee McGee” she loved her so much that she was on the front of her bible. 

You could always count on her for anything real family or not she was there. She knew how to make a meal out of nothing. Mary knew how to lighten any load and make the best from any situation. She left earth singing and praising the Lord even on her last days, and making sure family was coming together. She also made sure all her kids were ok. Mary was a member of Community Church of Union Pier under the leadership of her son Pastor John McGee and her second Church home was Full Gospel Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Pickens.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Caesar Joe Mitchell on June 23, 1975 and he survives in Michigan City.

Mary Alice Mitchell was promoted to Glory on February 11, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, her late husband, her dear two sons: Michael Sexton McGee and Martin Alexander McGee, three brothers: Charlie Frank Clay, Simmie Brooks, and Prince Brooks. 

  She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories her husband, Caesar Joe Mitchell of Michigan City; four children: Pastor John McGee, Doris Anderson, Mark Kevin McGee, and Loretta “Laine” McGee all of Michigan City, IN; her bonus children whom she treated as her own: Mary McGee Dallas, TX;  Martin McGee Laporte, IN; Tony McGee of Arizona; Michelle (Leto) Hill Michigan City, IN; Doris Mitchell, Hazel Mitchell both of Michigan City, IN; John Carr of Culver, IN; April Smith Lansing, IL; Deborah Weems of  Peachtree City, GA; two sisters: Lilly Mae brooks of Vicksburg, MS; Roberta Brunt of Jacksonville, FL; one brother: John Paxton of Michigan City, IN; her grandchildren: Loretta (Kujuan) Reed Indianapolis, IN; Shunta McGee, Bianca (Andrew) McGee Indianapolis, IN; Jonieka (Chris) Martin of Ohio; Mike Darden Michigan City, IN; Kristalyn McGee of South Carolina, Charles (Krista) Anderson Michigan City, IN; along with a host of cousins, friends, and other relatives.

Mary’s presence, love, laughter, and smile will be sorely missed by all that knew her. 

A Celebration of life will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 1pm at Full Gospel Church of Deliverance 2700 Ohio St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor Dennis Pickens to do Eulogy. Viewing will be 12 noon until time of service. 

Burial will be Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens 5700 W US HWY 20 Michigan City, Indiana 46360 at 11am.
