Darryl Goodwin Obituary

His Story...

Darryl Albert “Mann” Goodwin, was born August 20, 1961, in Gary, IN. He was the third and youngest child of the late Earnest Goodwin Sr., and Carole A. Goodwin.

Darryl lived most of his adult life in Gary, Indiana. He attended and graduated West Side High School, Class of 1980. Darryl received an Associate’s Degree in Electronics from DeVry University. He worked mostly in the gaming industries, Hoosier Lottery, Majestic Casino, Four Winds Casino as an Electronic Technician.

On October 15, 1986, he married Tawana Raven and to this union two children were born: Ryan Denise and Darryl II.

As a child Darryl attended church every Sunday with his mother, brother, and sister and was actively involved in the Children's Ministry at 20th Century Church in Gary, IN. He was not baptized until adulthood at Holy Bethel Church, Gary, IN along with his daughter Ryan by the late Rev. Solomon Dye.

Darryl loved to barbecue for family and friends. We celebrated every holiday. We even had ribs during the winter. He made the best barbeque sauce! Darryl was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a car fanatic and a great detailer. He kept his mother and Tawana cars clean and sparkling inside and outside. We knew not to forget to tip him! Darryl loved old school cars. He went to a lot of the car shows all over the United States. Darryl's first car in High School was a 1980 Camaro I-Roc, and he recently got a fully load white & black Dodge Charger. He also was a flower lover and took pride in his front and back yard and spent a lot of time keeping his rose bushes blooming. Darryl spent a lot of quality time with Bubba “Riley” and OG “Oliver”, they were the apple of his eye.

On April 23, 2023 Darryl was promoted from Earth to Glory. He was preceded in death by his father: Earnest Goodwin Sr., maternal grandparents: Albert and Corrine Jackson, paternal grandparents: Dan and Clemmie Goodwin, 2 aunts: Janet Bean and Marjorie Barron.

Darryl leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: his loving wife: Tawana Goodwin of Michigan City, Indiana; his mother: Carole Goodwin of Gary, Indiana; 2 children: Darryl (Danielle) Goodwin II and Ryan (Demetrius) Roberson all of Trail Creek, Indiana; 1brother: Earnest Goodwin Jr., Gary, Indiana; Bonita Goodwin-White of Avon, Indiana; and Anita Goodwin of Hammond, Indiana; 1 brother-in-law: Rod Raven of Kalamazoo, Michigan; 2 sister in-laws: Nicole Myricks of Merrillville, Indiana; Rochelle Raven of Memphis, Tennessee; special aunts: Veda Sanchez, of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Tracy Harrison of Hammond, Indiana; Elder Patricia Snelling of Toledo, Ohio; and Kim (Wayne) Burton of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 4 grandchildren that he adored: Kylee Roberson, Elysia Butler-Weekly, Riley Sanders, and Oliver Goodwin, along with a host of other family members and friends.
