Dana Meriweather Obituary

Dana was born on April 18, 1967 in Michigan City, Indiana to Melvin and Juliet (Thomas) Meriweather.

Dana accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized and attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member at New Hope and was the choir director for many years. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1985 and went on to complete the medical assistant certification program at Ivy Tech. She later received a certificate in medical administration from Brown Mackie College. Dana was in the business of helping people. She was employed at the Therapy Center working with children with disabilities, Horizon Bank for many years and also worked at Paladin as a direct support professional and in medical administration. Dana was a social butterfly who hated to miss an event. She loved to play card games (especially spades) and was a math whiz. She was an expert planner, who planned the Meriweather and Thomas family reunions that were hosted in Michigan City and kept us all in line and on track. She was known for her infectious smile, her compassion for others and her sage advice.

She was the proud mother of Alante’, Joie and Darian Nichols. While she was sick, Dana’s children were amazing and took great care of her while she was home.

A Celebration of Life will take place on April 3, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church at 12 noon with viewing at 11am until time of service with

Pastor Eddie L. Jenkins to do Eulogy.

Burial will be Monday,  April 5, at 1pm Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
