Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts Sr. Obituary

Life Reflections

Chief Apostle Darrell Albert Roberts, Sr. was born June 27, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Harold Albert Roberts, Jr. and Mary Ann Knew Roberts. He was the 2nd oldest of five children. He was preceded in death by parents, sister: Overseer Garnett Edwards, father-in-law: Joseph Wagner, brother-in-law: Jimmie Grant, Jr., grandson: Brisaan Smith, granddaughter: Ariel Davis, and great-granddaughter: Danila Grant, and a niece: Laylani Erdahl.

Darrell accepted Jesus as his Savior at a young age, while attending El Bethel MB Church, under the leadership of Rev. G. L. White, Sr. In 1999 Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts Sr., began his pastoral journey at the Salvation Army Harbor Light in St. Louis, Missouri where he pastored over 300 men. In 2000 him and his wife established Deliverance & Victory Outreach Ministries with a group of 7 women. Later they joined Grace Fellowship under Bishop Edward Holman where they experienced deeper training. In 2002 Bishop Holman released the Apostles to further the work of Deliverance & Victory. So, they started their own church with 7 people in their home located at 5240 Minerva Avenue. Six months later they began to make full proof of their ministry by doing evangelistic work. They then moved the ministry to McLaran Care Center where they worked with the elderly and disabled. Six months later the ministry moved to a shared facility. The facility was Pentecostal Saints Tabernacle where our Apostles helped over 1500 people with family engagement, life skills, job readiness, communication skills, leisure-time alternatives, recreation, physical fitness, spiritual growth, guidance counseling, anger management, crisis intervention, drug prevention, drug rehabilitation, prisoner reintegration, transitional and permanent housing, a soup kitchen site, operating various summer youth feeding programs and more. Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts had a vision about planting a church in Michigan City, Indiana where they have been serving since 2009. Here they have been developing leaders, empowering the community and establishing the Five-Fold ministry. Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts was a Miraculous Living Testimony and a Walking Bible. He truly lived up to our church theme: “Experience The Manifestations Of Kingdom Promises!” After suffering a stroke and being visited by a death angel in the hospital, he was TRANSFORMED, DELIVERED, AND MADE JESUS LORD OF HIS LIFE. He was very transparent with his testimony as he often testified, after that experience, his life was forever changed, he served God and spoke of God’s Goodness until the day he took his last breath on July 1, 2022.

Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts Sr. transitioned from this life to live eternally with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On June 28, 1997, Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts Sr. married the love of his life, Vera Roberts, who loved and cared for him daily, in sickness and in health, for better or worse and for richer or poorer. They were one of the Best dressed couples and they loved dressing alike. They were always together, when you saw one, you seen the other. Their motto for marriage was, Marriage is a Ministry and Ministry is a Marriage. He Hit them High, and She Hit them Low… Chief Apostle Darrell was committed and intentional about washing his wife with the word countless nights as they laid in the bed until wea hours in the morning.  Before her feet hit the ground every morning, he would give her the word and cover her in prayer to begin her days journey. He was truly a living example of Christ and the Church! On June 25th, 2022, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows and expressing their love for one another! He enjoyed playing tabletop games such as spades, uno, checkers and phase 10, but his favorites were Dominos, Bid Whist and Chess! Chief Apostle Darrell Roberts and his wife founded Deliverance & Victory Outreach Ministries, Deliverance & Victory Five-Fold Worship Ministries, Kingdom Covenant Connections Fellowship International (KCCFI) and the Michigan City Spiritual Task Force. He received his education in the St. Louis Public School system, attending Visual & Performing Arts High School. He was a genius, who was gifted to read and write music, play almost every instrument, sing, paint, draw and excelled at everything he put his hands to. After high school, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He later worked as the Chaplain for the Salvation Army and Harbor Light location in St. Louis, MO. He was an entrepreneur who also founded Deliverance & Victory Home Improvement Department, where he served as owner/operator for many years, until he became ill.
