HIS STORY...

Deacon Charles Edward Sparkman, Sr was born September 25,1951 to the late Mary Sparkman and Chester Bryant in Monroe, Arkansas. He entered into eternal rest on November 25,2025. 

Deacon Sparkman was a member of RENEW MC, under the direction of Pastor DeWayne Hurt and Pastor David Ashley. Deacon Sparkman was raised in Goodwin, Arkansas along with his uncle's Aaron, Andrew, Joe, and Roosevelt Sparkman. Deacon Sparkman was raised by his Aunt Elizabeth Bessie Sparkman. 

He attended public schooling until he had to quit to work in the field to help his family. Deacon Sparkman moved to Michigan City working at the Steel Mill then moving on to work for The Michigan City Sanitation Department and ran his own business on the side to support his family. He never turned a blind eye to anyone who needed help. Deacon Sparkman loved to fish and hunt in his free time. He did a lot of traveling down south once he retired to visit family and friends to hang out telling wise tales and remembering the old days.

 Deacon Sparkman earned his wings, and we would be proud to say he is looking down on us with proud eyes of what he has accomplish on this earth. Now he can rest easy cause Megan and JR got this. 

On July 11, 2025 he married Vickie Foulks of Pulaski IL; also leaving behind to cherish his memories are 2 Children: Megan (Scott) Adkins of Michigan City, IN; and Charles (Toris) Sparkman Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; 8 Grandchildren: CieAna Werner, Desmond Sparkman, Brian Sparkman, Brianna Adkins, Iyanna Adkins, Javion Adkins, Octavia Nettles, and D’Anthony Wright. 2 Great-Grandchildren: Annelia Werner and KhiLynn Sparkman. 10 Sisters: Linda Ward McGee, Betty Franklin, Michelle (Willie) Branch, Gwen Metcalf, Mary Ann Jarrett, Darlene Taylor, Michelle Metcalf, Frances Metcalf, Cora Stewart, and Anna Randy Bland. 7 Brothers: Chester (Federia) Smith, Johnny (Alma) Smith, Eddie Bryant, Kareem (Vicky) Watson, Vernon Metcalf, Danny (Liza) Smith, and Carl Sulaiman. 1 Uncle: Willie Buddy Parker, Special Mother: Willie Verne Smith.1 God-Daughter: Alesia Vinson, 6 Special Children: Keesha Mitchell, TaMella Ferron, Melvin Bond, Richard Bond, Corey Bonds, and Leslie Weldon. 4 Special Friends: Jimmy Davis, Puncho Farmer, Elder Ray Jackson, and Pastor David Ashley. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Deacon Sparkman is reunited with his Parents, 3 Sisters: Beryl Metcalf, Linda Smith, and Doris Metcalf, 4 Brothers: Andre Whitby, Donald Ray, Melvin Metcalf Sr, and Carl Phillips. 1 Friend: Jerome Anderson. 

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 1pm, Zion Hill MB. 123 Helen St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 with Pastor David Ashley Sr., to be Eulogist. Viewing will be 12noon until time of service at the Church. 

Burial will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 11:00am, Swan Lake Memorial Gardens 5700 W. US HWY 20 Michigan City, Indiana 46360.

Deacon Charles Sparkman will be truly missed by all.
