Charles B. Oliver was the youngest son of the late Thomas and Ollie Oliver. His life’s journey began on March 27, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, James Oliver, Lee Oliver, Sylvester Oliver and Thomas Oliver as well as his sisters Virgie Johnson, Bertha Anthony and Ruby Hicks.
Charles graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School, and entered the United States Army in the fall of 1958. He loved telling stories of life during those times, even during his time of serving with Elvis Presley after the draft. In his latter years, Charles enjoyed the honorable recognition of being an Army veteran and considered this one of his biggest life’s achievements.
In December 1962, Charles married Earlean Fluckes, from Hollandale, Mississippi who he remained married to for 60 years. From this union, their children, Sharon Oliver and Andre Oliver of Michigan City, Indiana were conceived. Charles was the proud father of his children, the late Anthony Johnson; Lesia (Anthony) Alexander of Chicago, Illinois; Monica Ali of Merrillville, Indiana and Laverne Johnson who preceded him in death.
