CHARLES TURNER Obituary

Charles Allen Turner, 66, transitioned this life at Aperion Care Center in Michigan City, Indiana on December 20th 2019. 

Memorial services will be 11am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Coleman & Hicks Chapel with Rev. Allen Briggs Sr. to officiate.

Charles was born June 27th 1953 in Michigan City, Indiana to the son of the late Eugene and Willie Bell Turner.

Charles attended Michigan City public schools, He graduated from Elston Senior high School and also attended Seattle Central Community College.

Charles enlisted in the United States Army. He was employed by Blocksom and Company before moving to Seattle, Washington. Charles married Dorothy I. Milton in Seattle, Washington and from that union he gained five stepchildren Richard, Donald, Timothy, Frank, and Bwana. He also gained 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Charles worked within the social services field in which he managed the American Hotel. As a member of the Union Gospel Missions USA, including the Clean and Sober House, a faith based transition facility for inmates re-entering society in Tacoma, Washington.

 Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Willie Bell Turner; one son Gregory Fischer; one sister, Carol Ann Turner, two brothers Bernard Leroy Turner and Eugene Turner Jr., and one close friend Melvin Adam.

Charles leaves to cherish his fond memories one sister Brenda Turner of Michigan City, Indiana; two brothers, Joe (Penny) Turner of Michigan City, Indiana and Larry (Melinda) Turner of Bloomington, Illinois; two Aunts, Arlene Hood and Mattie Turner both of Michigan City, Indiana.  A special friend of over 40 years Leland Free along with a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. 

Charles will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

His extended spiritual family will remember him according to the scripture 1st Timothy 3:13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
