Brandon Daniel Obituary

Brandon “B-12” Arthelle Daniel was born in a loving, Christian home on April 3, 1979, in Culver City, California, to Howard K. and Linda F. Daniel.

He attended Michigan City High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business and Accounting at Purdue University. Brandon was two classes shy of completing his Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Accounting.

Brandon planned to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant and had recently launched his own accounting firm, Daniel Accounting Group, LLC.

Brandon, affectionately known as “Mr. D.” to hundreds of students, served as a Math teacher and Director of Technology at Gary Middle College in Gary, Indiana, for the past 9 years.

Brandon developed a love for music at a very early age. He began writing lyrics in elementary school, collecting years of notebooks and performing in local talent shows. Over the next several years, B-12 went on to become part of the legendary hip hop group G.O.N., one of the first to ever do it in Michigan City. He later became one-half of Midwikid with his long-time brother and friend Donald “M.A.G.” Robinson. At the turn of the century, Midwikid signed with Divine Mill/Arista Records and released the critically acclaimed album Something Wikid This Way Comes… “B-12” went on to focus on family and career, but his love for music never died. He resumed his art in 2010, when he began writing and recording again, and started working with Adam Wood of Laidlaw Productions and several local artists in 2015.

Brandon was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He was also affectionately known as “Peanut,” “B.A.D.” and “Bran” to family and close friends, and had a great sense of humor and fashion sense, never leaving the house without being dripped from head to toe.

As a child, he loved hanging like one of the “big boys” with his Aunt Mauya, Uncle Wendell and big brother, Terrence. He loved movies and comedy, and often spent time “taking a spin around the block” to the beach to reflect and clear his head. Brandon was a huge inspiration to local artists and youth as a recording artist and one of the few African American male Math teachers in Northwest Indiana.

On Dec. 13, 2021, the Lord called Brandon home. Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Howard K. Daniel; grandparents, James and Irene McCollough, Edgar N. and Hattie Mae Daniel; great-grandmother Princella “Granmo” Rucker; and his special cousins, Shanna McCollough and Courtney Rowell Sr.

A Public Visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 17, 2021, at Faith City Assembly of God at 1314 S.
