Betty Jean Rose White, 80, Michigan City transition from earth to glory to be with her Lord and Savior on September 21, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be 11am, Saturday, October 3, 2020 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Damon Carnes to give the eulogy. Burial will take place at 11am on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday, October 2, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Coleman & Hicks Chapel.
Betty was born September 20, 1940 in Wetumpka, Alabama to Dennis Matthews and Dorothy George-Matthews. She later moved to Michigan City where she met and married the love of her life of 25 years Willie Rose Jr.
Betty was a strong, loving, fearless woman who loved the Lord and she served him for 40 plus years.
She worked at Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville, Kentucky where she was a CNA. Betty loved being a CNA she enjoyed helping people. Betty also worked many other jobs over the years, Ryder Product, WR Grace, and Boone Box all of Michigan City Indiana. Betty volunteered at Joy elementary school as a lunch aid. Betty loved to dance and was very athletic and had a passion for cooking. Betty’s family loved her famous fried chicken and sweet potato pie’s. At the drop of a hat, all someone had to say was that they wanted some fried chicken Betty would have some of that famous fried chicken ready for everyone, it wouldn’t last past five minutes! Betty loved to be around people, she never met a stranger. Her family and friends appreciated her feisty, comical, and loving nature she was a pleasure to be around.
Betty truly received her diamonds while she lived and she will truly be missed. Betty leaves to cherish her memories, four sons, Mark Rose of Columbus, Ohio, Keith (Kim) Rose, William (Angela) Rose and Eric (Cherie) Rose all of Michigan City; four special sons, Michael “Scooby” Rose, Brad Rose, Paul Dantzker and Allen Dantzker; one special daughter, Catrina Rose; six sisters, Juanita (James) Garner, Sabrina Matthews, Cynthia Matthews, Gail Matthews all of Michigan City, Rena Matthews-Jett of Brandon, Florida and Regina Matthews of Riverview, Florida; special aunt, Octavia (Logan) Hester; special sister in law Mercedes Rose both of Michigan City; best friend, Rachel Seller of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives.
Betty was preceded in death by one son, Mitchell Rose Sr.; her parents, Dennis and Dorothy Matthews one sister, Eloise Matthews-Byrd; one brother, Larry Matthews; one grandson, Antwone Rose.
