Betty Ruth Blackmon

LIFE’S REFLECTIONS
Betty Ruth Blackmon was born May 5, 1948, to Fred and Ruby Mae Williams in Florence, Alabama. 

She acknowledged Christ at an early age and was a member of Freedom in the Word Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Damon Carnes.

She met the love of her life Willie J. Blackmon in 1963.  They were united in marriage on December 17, 1966, and to this union five children were born.  Kathy L. Blackmon-Johnson(Indianapolis, IN), Derrick L. Blackmon (Jennifer) (Michigan City, IN), and Marcus A. Blackmon (Indianapolis, IN).  
 

Betty departed this life on December 27, 2022 at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by two sons Corey J. Blackmon and Eric S. Blackmon both of Michigan City, Indiana, one grandchild, both parents and eight siblings. 

She worked for the Michigan Township Trustees Office and retired after 30 years of service.

She was affectionately known by her children, grandchildren and many others as “BB”.  BB had a passion for decorating and was also a great event planner.  She also loved working in her yard.

She leaves to cherish her memory sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

At the family’s request there will be no public service or viewing.
